Oxford10 are hosting Lord Janvrin for our second-speaker event, 'Career Management, Networking and Luck'. Lord Janvrin is in a unique position to address this topic, given his extensive experience of diplomacy at the highest levels, in both the public and private sectors.

Robin Janvrin joined HSBC Private Bank UK as Deputy Chairman in January 2008. He began his career with the Royal Navy before moving to the Diplomatic Service, where he served in the UK Delegation to NATO in Brussels (1976-8) and the British High Commission in Delhi (1981-4).He was seconded to be Press Secretary to The Queen in 1987 and stayed on at Buckingham Palace in the Queen's private office first as Assistant Private Secretary and then Deputy Private Secretary. Most recently, Lord Janvrin took over as Private Secretary to The Queen (1997-2007), effectively her closest advisor and chief of staff, with responsibilities for advising on all aspects of her Majesty’s public life including contacts with the Government, constitutional issues, programmes at home and overseas, speeches and media affairs.
